Long-term Care & Maintenance Guide

Essential guidelines for cleaning and servicing your timepiece to preserve its finish.

Your watch has an automatic movement, you may need to pay attention to followings.

Your watch has an automatic movement, you may need to pay attention to followings. (Mechanical-1)

1. Daily Care and Habits

• Consistent Wear: Wear your watch regularly to keep the internal lubricants evenly distributed and the movement active.
• Manual Winding: If the watch has stopped, manually wind it by turning the crown clockwise approximately 20–40 times while it is off your wrist to avoid bending the winding stem.
• "Danger Zone": Avoid adjusting the date between 9:00 PM and 4:00 AM. This is when the watch's internal date-changing gears are engaged; manual adjustment during this window can break the mechanism.
• Magnetism Awareness: Keep your watch away from electronics with strong magnets (smartphones, laptops, speakers). Magnetization is a leading cause of sudden timing inaccuracy.
2. Cleaning and Protection

2. Cleaning and Protection (Mechanical-2)

• Surface Cleaning: Wipe the case and crystal daily with a soft microfiber cloth to remove skin oils and sweat.
• Deep Cleaning: Every 1–2 weeks, use a soft toothbrush with mild, pH-neutral soap and warm water—only on metal or rubber parts.
• Strap Care:
◦ Leather: Avoid moisture; wipe with a slightly damp cloth and apply conditioner every few months.
◦ Metal: Rinse with fresh water after exposure to salt water or chlorine to prevent corrosion.
• Chemical Exposure: Apply perfumes, lotions, or colognes and let them dry completely before putting on your watch to avoid degrading seals and finishes.
3. Watch Storage

3. Watch Storage (Mechanical-3)

• Environment: Store in a dry, room-temperature location away from direct sunlight.

• Watch Winders: Use a winder if you rotate between many watches or have complex complications (e.g., perpetual calendars). Note that winders cause continuous mechanical wear and are not strictly necessary for simple time-and-date models.

• Moisture Control: Consider placing silica gel packets in your watch box to absorb excess humidity.
4. Professional Servicing Schedule

4. Professional Servicing Schedule (Mechanical-4)

Like Rolex, Omega, Seiko, Horolo automatic watches also require a full overhaul every 3-5 years, depending on the usage.

Signs you need immediate service:
• Inaccuracy: Gaining or losing more than 30 seconds per day.
• Reduced Power Reserve: The watch stops significantly sooner than its advertised duration.
• Condensation: Fogging or droplets visible under the crystal, indicating a seal failure.
• Physical Resistance: Roughness when winding or a "stiff" crown.
